Greetings from Kathy, Jerry, & Jenna - 2007

Celebrating Jenna Ann's First Year!

We are humbled this year by watching Jenna grow & discover how to do the simple things we take for granted (her first words, meal, clap, hug, kiss, pray, rollover from tummy to back, sit up, walk, run, dance). Daddy and Mommy agree - we learned so much more from Jenna this year!  She is full of energy, enjoys people, music, and making others smile so we shared special relationship time with family, friends, on playdates, at storytime, and volunteering at our parish together.

First words & Signs:  Da-Da, Ga-Ga (for Jesus), Ma-Ma for our Blessed Mother & mommy, sign language for airplane, milk, & more, duck, bun-bun for bunny, row, row, row, pop, and ei-ei-o!

Special "Mommy & Daddy" moments with Jenna

  • While Jenna was sleeping during Christmas mass last year, people started clapping and Jenna unexpectedly opened her eyes wide, started clapping, & went peacefully back to sleep.

  • Celebrating Jenna's first birthday with family as she gently explored her birthday cake.
  • Imitating mommy doing a ballet plie.
  • Welcoming daddy home from work.  When she hears the garage door open, Jenna says, "Daddy door," looks at mommy to take her to the window to wave at daddy outside, & prepares to run to daddy with a big hug and smile!
  • Reminding mommy & daddy to pray spontaneously throughout the day since she stops frequently while playing & folds her hands to pray.

Kathy's highlights:

  • Kathy chose to leave Motorola to focus on caring for Jenna & our family.  This decision has led me to an even greater joy & peace.

  • It was a special joy to spend quality time with family since Jenna would always learn something new from her grandparents, aunts, uncles, & cousins!
  • As a family, we planned local getaways to Pheasant Run & Marriott Lincolnshire to celebrate our first Mother's Day and Father's Day with Jenna including visits to Cantigny Park & the Chicago Botanical Gardens.
  • Kathy especially enjoyed an overnight "Ladies night out" with Karen and Mom to see a musical together.
  • With Jerry's support, I was grateful to help serve on our parish Stewardship committee & Light of the World retreat team (www.lotwem.org).  It has also been a blessing to volunteer with Jenna by delivering meals to new Moms, visiting parishioners through Parish Outreach, and sharing resources to encourage families to pray the rosary & Chaplet of Divine Mercy.
  • Jerry & I learned valuable lessons to help us with our family finances by participating in a pilot small faith group for the Rockford Diocese on "7 Steps of Becoming Financially Free" - http://www.veritasfinancialministries.com/
  • Since our family has been blessed with dreams come true, Kathy has focused this year in encouraging others & their dreams.  An awesome book to help get started is Matthew Kelly's newest book, "The Dream Manager."  Check out Matthew Kelly's "Dream Manager" Interview for more information on how we can help each other to start dreaming again in our lives!

Jerry's Highlights:

  • The KM0TO Motorola Amateur Radio had a new member this year as Jenna sent her version of the Morse Code (dit-dit-dit-dit,da-da) at "Take Your Child to Work Day" at Motorola. Jenna and Mommy attended the Field Day set-up providing encouraging words to the members who operated during the 24 hour period contacting over 500 ham operators in US. • Jerry was part of the "Light of the World" retreat team in November. He was grateful for Father Lovell's explanation to those on the retreat about the holiness & closeness of Jesus' presence during adoration.
  • Motorola provided many opportunities for Jerry to provide input and guidance to the Information Technology Manage and Enable Team on Resource Management and was nicknamed "Dr. Primavera".
  • Through the grace of God & with the help of Shaklee's nutritional supplements and soy protein, Jerry was excited to be  "allergy free" during this fall's "Hay Fever" season, not requiring any allergy shots for the first time in 7 years!

Family Highlights:

They say, "A picture is worth a thousand words" so here's a collage of pictures highlighting our "Seasons of Blessings" and a Year of "Jenna Firsts" in 2007!  We are thankful for a year of blessings & sharing it with those we love!

May 2008 be a year of dreams come true for you!

A favorite Christmas Blessing from our family to YOU!

May all the days of all the years
That God has still in store
Be filled with every joy and grace
To bless you more and more;

May hope of heart and peace of mind
Beside you ever stay
And that's the golden wish we have
For YOU, this Christmas Day

"For this day is born to you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord, in the city of David."
-Luke 2:11
