Greetings from Kathy & Jerry - 2005
To our family & friends around the world, regardless of HOW and WHEN you celebrate holiday blessings, may we continue to celebrate the gift of diversity united by sharing love & compassion with those around us. Here's a brief recap of the highlights of our "Seasons of Blessings" in 2005. Winter -Kathy & Jerry celebrated the New Year together in Georgia & South Carolina! We enjoyed rockin' in the New Year "Savannah" style in the town square while exploring this historic city. We also appreciated the charm of a B&B near the beach on Tybee Island & exploring Hilton Head Island by bike & foot! -Kathy became a HAM....an amateur radio operator technician alias KC9HIF on the air! -Jerry motivates Kathy to attend a Metabolism & Strength training class together three times a week starting at....6:15 am! -Kathy & Jerry spent a prayerful weekend at our local parish, Light of the World Retreat which led us to join a small faith group. To encourage others in sharing their time, talent, & treasure within the Parish, Kathy became a member of the Stewardship Committee. -To see larger view of picture, click on photo.
Spring -Kathy & Jerry returned to Bettendorf, IA where Jerry proposed to Kathy on the Mississippi River on an Eagle Hike. We also enjoyed learning more about the life of Ronald Reagan as we stopped in Dixon, IL at the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home & Museum. -Kathy & Jerry worked with KM0TO Amateur Radio club to sponsor a "Bring Your Kids to Work Day" interactive display encouraging youth & families to connect with the world! -Kathy visited Motorola's Turin, Italy design center in May to meet her teammates face to face. From Italy, Kathy participated in the annual National Day of Prayer while Jerry & other Motorolans locally & in other countries gathered outside the flag pole in prayer & thanksgiving. -Spring was a time of family get togethers, "lightening up" at home, attending community fish frys on Friday, & a girls getaway for Kathy to Starved Rock with her junior high girlfriends.
Turin, Italy
Summer -Kathy surprised Jerry for his birthday with a getaway at White Pines State Park cabins. -Kathy, Karen & Mom enjoyed a girls getaway at the Grand Geneva, WI to celebrate Karen's birthday & enjoy some rest & relaxation! - Kay turned 70! with family & friends sharing their birthday wishes & favorite pictures at www.kayis70.com -Jerry meets up with family at Table Rock, MO. - Kathy, Julee & Kristie visit the Abbey in Lake Geneva before Kristie leaves to be a Texan in Austin. Fall/Winter -Kathy & Jerry enjoyed family time in the fall including a visit to enjoy the fall colors at Cantigny with nephew Jack, Mom, & Dad, a roadtrip to St. Louis for a Breuss family reunion, a birthday party with "Thomas the Train" to celebrate Jack's 2nd birthday, & nights of relaxation around the bonfire with friends. -This year was an action packed year for the Motorola Amateur Radio club, KM0TO, with Jerry elected as President of the club. The Club located on the Libertyville campus completed their first year of operation. The club installed multiple antennas & operated many events. For additional information on events, refer to KM0TO "Year in Review" Newsletter: Year In Review Newsletter. Additional information on the club website:www.km0to.com Addtional club photos: www.km0to@shutterfly.com . -Our fall is best described in Psalm 37:4 "If you find your delight in the Lord, he will grant your heart's desires." Kathy & Jerry visited the "Our Lady of Fatima" celebration at St. Thomas Church in September, 2005 with prayers for personal & family health, for healing & connecting people at our parish Light of the World retreat, surrendering our desire & timing for a family, & personal petitions for family, friends, & co-workers. The personal outcome to name a few answered prayers included: 1) Kathy's doctor encouraged outpatient surgery to remove an intraductal papilloma from her right breast which thankfully was benign. 2) Kathy & Jerry were challenged to push their "comfort zones" as team leaders & share personal testimonies at our parish Light of the World retreat in October. We received much more than we could ever give! For examples of personal testimonies, click here to refer to: Real Presence in the Eucharist click here for our LOW talk at Church; Light of the World Church Talk . 3) Kathy & Jerry once again learned that when you surrender dreams, hopes, & fears, the Lord will surprise you when you least expect it. After two years of persistence, we received confirmation that we would be expecting a child in July, 2006! (We also learned that our date of conception was on the feast of day of St. Gerard - the patron saint of Motherhood & on the day Kathy shared the personal testimony above at the final mass to celebrate the Year of the Eucharist). We are thankful for this year of blessings & sharing it with those we love! Cantigny
